Organic Forms and Nature in the Office: Technical Structures for Biophilic Workspaces
In modern work environments, the pursuit of well-being and connection with nature increasingly translates into solutions that integrate vegetation and fluid forms. In this project, developed with an industrial partner from Northern Europe, our technical and production focus has been on creating a structural frame capable of supporting large sculpted work surfaces, integrated with trees and green islands at the heart of the workspace. The goal was to bring nature indoors through organic geometries and a modular system that ensures stability, flexibility, and comfort for the user.
A New Concept of Shared Space
The layout of the project is based on continuous and sinuous surfaces that shape the space, fostering visual connection and collaboration among users. Workstations are organized around central green hubs, which become elements of interaction and well-being. The organic configuration of the surfaces overcomes the rigidity of the traditional open space, creating fluid and natural environments.
Technical Structure and Design Freedom
The main technical challenge was the creation of a customized metal frame, designed to support sculpted surfaces of various shapes and sizes, produced by the project partner. The system offers full compositional freedom, allowing the structure to adapt to different spatial needs while ensuring solidity and precise alignment between the modules. The engineering phase ensured perfect integration between natural elements, technical wiring, and workstations.
Functionality, Ergonomics, and Sustainability
The structure, fully disassemblable, was designed to ensure long-term maintenance and reconfigurability. The combination of metal structures and wooden surfaces offers visual balance and tactile comfort, while the integration of plants improves air quality and environmental well-being. Every technical detail has been calibrated to balance aesthetics, ergonomics, and durability.
